My Karearea bird screencastify

W.A.L.T research about native New Zealand birds and find out about their natural habitat and their everyday living.

Reflection: The reason I made this is because we are learning to discover interesting facts about different native New Zealand birds and what they like to do. I enjoyed making this screencastify and I think that it is a very easy tool to use. I think maybe next time I could work on making sure that I have everything in order.

I really enjoyed making this poster and I think that canva is a good tool to use. I think maybe next time I could keep it simple and make sure that I can spread all the text out.

My persuasive writing

Karearea Bird

W.A.L.T write about New Zealand native birds.

Do you ever wonder what different types of birds are out there?
Well I am going to tell you about one odd bird that you have
probably never heard of. This wonderful bird is very special to me
because it is ancient to me and my family.

It is a fact that there is only 300-500 New Zealand falcon pairs
remaining in New Zealand. These native New Zealand birds have
predators such as cats, weasels, stoats, and they mainly feast on the
eggs. Whenever you see this bird being attacked they strive to keep
their eggs and chicks safe. We need your help and you can help by
creating place like Zealandia. Please care for sick, injured, and
orphaned New Zealand falcons.

Even though the Karearea birds population used to be large
you could help by making your own fan club. There are 38
different species of  New Zealand falcons around New Zealand.
This falcon is endemic (Found in certain areas) to this country and
they are most recently found in grazed hills or in a more open place
of trees. These birds are usually found in the South Island but also
south of  Waikato or Auckland islands. The number of falcons is
dropping because of cats, stoats, weasels, mustelids, and hedgehogs.

The adult falcons should grow up to 40 cm- 50 cm. This bird can
lay up to 2-4 eggs and should take about 33 days to hatch. There
are at least 5,000- 8,000 individual falcons left around
New Zealand. They do not build nest they rather scrap on the
ground under a rocky outcrop or in a forest tree where it lays its
eggs. However when these chicks hatch they are fed by both parents
not just the mother but the male does most of the hunting. If the
karearea is about to attack they can fly up to about 100 kilometers
per hour and can catch prey larger than itself. They kill their prey
with a quick powerful bite to their neck and they hunt live prey.

I hope that you have learnt a lot about the Karearea bird and I hope
that I have convinced you to support the Karearea birds in anyway
you can. PLEASE HELP!!!.

My native bird drawing

W.A.L.T not take pictures and photos off the internet and use our own by
drawing on google drawings.

Turtle report

Walt: research about marine
animals and fun facts about the
creature.

Loggerhead sea turtles

Hook in
Have you ever heard about the turtles that are endangered?

Relatives
Loggerhead turtles are related to most turtles that are endangered,
for example leather back turtles can survive in much colder seas.
Leather back turtles can swim down to 1,000m deeper than any other
planet turtles. Green sea turtles are great swimmers and these
turtles are on a veggie-diet as other turtles feed on jellyfish.

Females
When females lay eggs they use their hind flippers to dig their holes.
When she lays her eggs they will hatch around 60 days later.
Females can travel up to 12,000km from where she laid her eggs.
Turtles feed on other ocean animals that are slightly smaller than
themselves.

Fast facts
A serious threat to loggerheads is accidental capture in fishing
equipment (such as nets, long lines and shrimp trawls). 68,000 to
90,000 loggerhead turtles nest per year. The loggerhead turtle got its
name from the enormous size of its head. Predators of these turtles are
raccoons and sharks. Newly born babies have predators such as
ghost crabs, raccoons on the beach, and reef fish.

Conclusion

So, how much do you really know about turtles? I hope that you have
learnt some interesting facts about the loggerhead turtle.

My report about netball

Netball

Introduction
Hi i’m Jimmy and I am going to tell you all about a physical
sport that keeps you healthy and fit.

What is netball
Do you know the sport netball? Well let me tell you.
What is netball exactly well netball you say is usually played by
girls and did you know that it is a winter sport even though it is
a winter sport you can play it in summer. Not only girls can play
even boys can play. When you play the  aim of the game is to
stop the other team from getting the ball into their hoop to shoot
for their goal.

How to play
There are only 7 positions in netball which are GD(goal defence
) GA (goal attack) C (centre) WD ( wing defence) WA (wing
attack) GS ( goal shoot) GK (goalkeeper). This means that only
7 people can only play at a time on the court. You will play
against another team. The referee will call you out if you step
with the ball. Each player has their own opponent so their point
of the game is to stop their opponent from the getting the ball.

Rules
The rules are you must  always be 3 feet away from your
opponent and there must not be any physical contact like
pushing hitting and shoving. If your opponent touches you when
you have the ball the referee will call out obstruction. You are
also not allowed to step with the ball if you hold the ball for
over 3 seconds the referee will give a sign that you are stepping
with the ball.

Conclusion/summary
I hope that this report has given you the right instructions of
hows to play netball I am Jimmy and I have wrote this report for
people that are beginners of netball.
